Step and a Half

Step and a Half is a performance that reflects our lives in all their contradictions. It is about the everyday journey we walk, one step at a time, between resilience, joy, and hope. One step represents standing firm; the half step is an extra step towards life, towards joy, and towards our ability to keep going despite everything around us.

We live one day at a time because we never know what tomorrow may bring. So we hold on to the present. We celebrate, sing, dance, and make space for joy.. not because sorrow is absent, but because, for us, life itself is an act of resistance. Within every joy lives a sorrow we carry, and within every sorrow there is a small space that awakens us to joy.

Step and a Half reflects the story of a people who carry their tragedies with them, but refuse to let them take away their right to live. A people who keep moving despite the weight, find joy despite the pain, and continue to dream despite everything.

It is not simply a step. It is a step and a half towards resilience, towards life, and towards the hope of a better tomorrow.

The performance brings together traditional Dabke and contemporary circus, creating a distinctive artistic dialogue between heritage and contemporary expression. Here, circus becomes part of dance, identity, and collective freedom.
