The Night and The Mountain has been written after a popular tale from Yemen. It talks about a ghoul who threatened people in the mountains. He is said to have attacked and devoured travelers and turned their lives into hell.
The show performed in an epic manner, features the tale as opposed to its narrator.
Ages mix. Past coincides with present fantasy with reality, theatre with non- theatre, poetry with prose.
This tale has to be performed as if it were in the present, so it could talk and tackle the anxieties and the day-to-day life of the Arab citizen.
All of the elements of the play have been combined to seller, characters, standpoints, events, voices, poems in order to show the tempo of the epic theatre that depends on reciting and commenting on events in a play within play fashion.
