The Clown is a play that lies between fact and fantasy, dream and reality, sarcasm and seriousness. The Clown Searches in the papers of history to ask : is it enough to be satisfied with the past or are Arabs required to be once again at the fore front of human civilization.
What if a miracle were to happen? And the tombs to open and a pioneer from the past to get out ? what then ?
Will the people tell him : oh how we need you ? …..or ……………?
And suppose this eminent figure realizes the present? And how bad it is , will he stay ? Or will be run back to his grave in despair and deny knowing them ?
The Clown is a new play, produced by Al- Kasaba that tackles a central problem, namely the city of Jerusalem and its isolation, land confiscation, its besiege and the settlements founded in its heart. The play takes place in one of its old streets where the group presents its show in one of the cafes and sheds light on what is happening in the Arab World from deterioration, retardation and under – development.
